Criminal conspiracy law in California
In California, conspiracy law is characterized in Penal Code Section 182. Conspiracy generally
refers to an assention by at least two individuals to carry out a wrongdoing. No less than one individual,
co-plotter, or respondent, must carry out a plain demonstration in encouragement of the criminal
conspiracy. An overt act is an act by at least one or more members of conspiracy that is done to help
fulfill the settled upon wrongdoing. The overt act must occur after the litigant or a plotter has consented
to carry out the wrongdoing.
