I have got a new windows 8 laptop but when I plug my headset in sound still comes out of the built-in laptop speakers. I went to control panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage audio devices and there were three inputs/outputs named AMD HDMI Output, Speakers and Headphones and communications headphones. The speakers and headphones were ticked but the others were not and I think one of them is for my headset. Any help?
Go to Control Panel.
Select Hardware and Sound.
Then click on Sound.
Now, click on Manage audio devices.
Then do a right click to show two boxes, where you would have to tick the two boxes, Show disabled devices and Show Disconnected devices.
Then plug in the headphone into the headphone jack of the laptop and not the mic jack.
Then keep the headphone as the default device in the sound/playback devices.
