Apple iPad 2017
Apple has launched a new 9.7-inch iPad for 2017. The new iPad 9.7-inch features A9 processor, 32GB and 128GB memory options. There is no 256 GB variant for this iPad.
The price of 32GB version is $329 (Wi-Fi) and that of 128 GB is $429. For the LTE variant, you need to shell out $130 and so the 32GB version (LTE) costs $459 and similarly, 128GB version (LTE) costs $559. The new iPad will be available for pre-order from Friday, March 24th, 2017 onwards.
Coming to the updates, the display brightness of the new iPad 9.7-inch model has been increased without any change in the resolution (2048 x 1536). Even the camera hardware continues to remain the same, 8-megapixel at the rear and 1.2-megapixel at the front.
Hardware in the iPad 9.7-inch model consists of a A9 chipset, retina display and a claimed 10-hour battery life. The color options include Charcoal gray, midnight blue, pink sand, white and red. When you choose the RED variant, a part of the money will be donated by Apple to HIV/AIDS programme in sub-Sahara, Africa.
Unlike the previous iterations where Apple branded the 9.7-inch models as Air, like iPad Air, iPad Air 2, this time, the company has just stuck with the brand ‘iPad’, the ‘Air’ is gone.
Where the iPad 9.7 inch model may disappoint is the lack of laminated screen at the front, the one which hides or covers up the gap between glass cover and the display. However, at $329, the iPad 9.7-inch is a desirable tablet for users with a low budget. The other alternative is iPad mini 4 for which prices start at $399.
There is no update info available for the remaining iPad models. Currently, the iPad lineup in apple consists of the new iPad 9.7-inch, iPad mini 4 and iPad Pro in 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch versions.
