I just bought a First Alert 2-in-1 Z-Wave Smoke Detector. Can someone tell me about places at home that are not to have smoke detectors installed at?

  • Keep away your First Alert smoke detector from places such as kitchens, garages, furnace rooms or places that are extremely humid, dirty, dusty or even greasy.

  • Do not have your alarms installed in direct sunlight, or areas of extreme temperatures. This will include unconditioned crawl spaces, un-insulated or poorly insulated ceilings, unfinished attics, and porches.

  • Also do not have them installed in curtain covered rooms or halls or rooms that are obstructed by curtains.

  • Do not install near air conditioners, heat vents,, fresh air returns, turbulent air-near ceiling fans,or open windows. Blowing air may stop carbon monoxide from reaching the CO sensors.
