Keep away your First Alert smoke detector from places such as kitchens, garages, furnace rooms or places that are extremely humid, dirty, dusty or even greasy.
Do not have your alarms installed in direct sunlight, or areas of extreme temperatures. This will include unconditioned crawl spaces, un-insulated or poorly insulated ceilings, unfinished attics, and porches.
Also do not have them installed in curtain covered rooms or halls or rooms that are obstructed by curtains.
- Do not install near air conditioners, heat vents,, fresh air returns, turbulent air-near ceiling fans,or open windows. Blowing air may stop carbon monoxide from reaching the CO sensors.
