I am in the idea of building a smarthome. Now that I am looking at Gateways to fix, I got recommended of the Vera controller. Although I got a lot of recommendations, I am still not so informed about their models. Which Vera Controller would work best for me?

VeraEdge Home Controller

That’s Vera’s most basic model and is a very powerful controller. It is capable of handling up to 100 home and security automation devices in your home. Also, the pricing seems to be a good deal, especially for beginners who might not want to risk spending dollars on.

Otherwise, if you have more devices in your home to connect, I suggest that you try VeraPlus.

It also handles more brands of devices. It "speaks" in 4 different wireless protocol "languages" such as Z-Wave, ZigBee, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE.

And then you have VeraSecure Home Controller which is a top of the line category. It adds one more protocol, VeraLink and carries built-in siren alarm, backup cellular connection and a backup battery. The cellular connection requires optional VeraProtect monitoring service though.

P.s. All Vera Controller models run the same Vera App, so you will be getting the same set of features and benefits built into the software. Also, upgrading from one model to another is easy while it preserves all your settings and customizations made on the previous model.
