Even when times have changed so much that carrying a business card has become uncommon but there is a way to digitalize the business card that you are carrying.
Evernote has collaborated with LinkedIn in taking the business card a step further. What makes Evernote special is that it is not another business card scanning device but it integrates with LinkedIn in taking the business cards to more than 300 million professionals in LinkedIn.
LinkedIn and Evernote:
Place your business card on a table or any surface that is contrasting.
Now, use the camera mode of Evernote and frame the business card.
You do not have to adjust as the camera would do that for you from adjusting the card’s edges.
After digitizing the card, Evernote integrates with LinkedIn and creates a searchable note in your account along with your new contact.
Now, you can use Evernote as usual for recording your meetings, attaching documents, and forwarding emails from your new contact into a related notebook.
One thing to note is that you do not have to be connected with the person whom you are contacting on LinkedIn using their business card. If you have connected your LinkedIn account to Evernote then you would automatically get the person’s profile and photo. After the initial scanning process you would have to connect on LinkedIn and then share your own contact information or save the person’s contact on your device.
